    • A method for controlling reception of an audio specialty channel is provided to decode and process only audio signals when an audio specialty channel is selected, and output the processed audio with a background image preliminarily stored in a digital broadcasting receiver or video received and processed through other tuners. A microcomputer controls a tuner for selecting a random broadcasting channel(S10). The microcomputer checks whether the selected broadcasting channel is an audio specialty channel(S11). If the selected broadcasting channel is not an audio specialty channel, an audio decoder and a video decoder are enabled to normally perform decoding and signal processing of audio and video(S12). The processed audio and video are displayed through an external device(S13). If the selected broadcasting channel is an audio specialty channel, the audio decoder is enabled to perform decoding and signal processing of audio while disabling the video decoder not to perform decoding and signal processing of video(S14,S15). The microcomputer reads out and reproduces a background image which is preliminarily stored in a memory, and displays the background image with outputting the audio(S16,S17).

    • A software upgrade method of an AV device is provided to perform software upgrade for the AV device through received OTA software if an OTA software version is an upper version than a software version of the AV device. If an AV(Audio/Video) deice is connected to a host device supporting an HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface), the host device parses an EDID(Extended Display Identification Data) of the AV device through an HDMI CEC(Consumer Electronics Control) and stores AV device information in a memory(S10,S11). An OTA(Over The Air) software included in service information of a received broadcasting signal is detected(S12). The OTA software is temporarily stored in a flash memory. A software version of the AV device stored in the memory is compared with a version of the received OTA software to confirm whether the OTA software version is a higher version than the stored software version of the AV device(S13,S14). If so, a general software upgrade operation for the AV device is performed by reading the OTA software temporarily stored in the flash memory(S16).
