    • PURPOSE: A liquid-liquid extraction device, a multistage liquid-liquid extraction apparatus using the same, and a multistage continuous extraction system for rare earth elements are provided to reduce the size of the liquid-liquid extraction device with maintaining the extraction and separation efficiency of the rare earth elements. CONSTITUTION: A liquid-liquid extraction device comprises an extraction and separation tank (10), a water phase inlet (20), an organic phase inlet (30), an organic phase outlet (40), and a water phase outlet (50). The extraction and separation tank has a pair of side walls horizontally facing each other. The water phase inlet is arranged in the upper part of one side wall for receiving bubble type water phase. The organic phase inlet is arranged in the lower part of one side wall for receiving bubble type organic phase. The organic outlet is arranged in the upper part of the other side wall for discharging the separated organic phase. The water phase outlet is arranged in the lower part of the other side wall for discharging the separated water phase.

    • PURPOSE: A method for extracting and separating an LREE is provided to reduce the number of extracting steps for recovering a target LREE with a desired purity, and decrease the amount of acid and alkali used. CONSTITUTION: A method for extracting and separating an LREE is such that a target LREE is separated through a solvent extraction from an aqueous solution which contains at least two kinds of LREEs which are selected from a group of La, Ce, Pr and Nd. An organic phase is brought into contact with an acid aqueous solution for back-extracting a target element. The amount of alkali in an alkaline solution used in an extracting step and the amount of acid in the acid aqueous solution used in a back-extracting step are each 1.2 to 3.5 equivalents relative to the LREE in an aqueous phase. An extractant is a compound having formula(I) wherein R1 and R2 each are -CH2CH(C2H5)C4H9, that is, di-2-ethylhexyl diglycol amic acid.
