    • An apparatus and a method for estimating an initial fractional multiplication frequency offset in a BWA(Broadband Wireless Access) communication system are provided to improve the performance of initial fractional multiplication frequency offset estimation and the accuracy and reliability of the whole synchronization system by performing overall correlation accumulation control after judging the existence of data in a downlink symbol through information about whether beamforming has been applied for symbols after DL-MAP symbols. An apparatus for estimating an initial fractional multiplication frequency offset in a BWA communication system comprises a 1024 sample buffer(210), a sample power calculator(260), a power threshold comparator(270), a 128 correlation result buffer(220), a 1152 sample buffer(280), an accumulator(290), a 1152 accumulation buffer(230), a maximum power searcher(240), and a difference estimator(250). The 1024 sample buffer stores 1024 samples from an input signal. The sample power calculator calculates the power of 1024 input data samples every symbol. Also the sample power calculator calculates the average power of DL-MAP symbols. The power threshold comparator compares the average power of the DL-MAP symbols with the power of symbols after the DL-MAP symbols. The 128 correlation result buffer stores 128 correlation results between the 1024th data of the 1024 sample buffer and the input data sample. The 1152 sample buffer stores all the correlation results but the 128th data of the 128 correlation result buffer for the 1152 samples. The accumulator, if an accumulation on signal is outputted from the power threshold comparator, issues an order to accumulate the sample data of the 1152 sample buffer. The 1152 accumulation buffer accumulates the sample data of the 1152 sample buffer according to the order from the accumulator. The MAX power searcher searches for sample data having the largest power among the sample data accumulated in the 1152 accumulation buffer. The difference estimator obtains a fractional multiplication frequency offset, based on the accumulation correlation value of the searched sample data having the largest power.

    • An apparatus and a method for ACK channel allocation in an OFDMA(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access) system are provided to reduce the size of a bitmap and the number of logic gates which increase in accordance with the increase of the number of ACK channels/subchannels/symbols. An apparatus for ACK channel allocation in an OFDMA system includes a map decoder(300), an uplink bitmap generation unit(304), a symbol processing unit(302), a parallel conversion unit(306), and a channel allocation unit(308). The map decoder decodes a received data frame, and checks ACK region information with respect to each channel. The uplink bitmap generation unit generates the bitmap information which includes the ACK region information checked in the map decoder. The symbol processing unit obtains ACK/NAK information by the CRC(Cyclic Redundancy Check) of the received data frame, and extracts ACK channel information including the ACK/NAK information. The parallel conversion unit extracts ACK offset, ACK/NACK information, and ACK Enable information from the ACK channel information extracted in the symbol process unit. The channel allocation unit obtains ACK position information by using the ACK region information included in a bitmap and the ACK offset received from the parallel conversion unit, and allocates ACK channels.

The sleep controller counts with low frequency clock. If the counting result is same with a sleep cycle from a CPU(330), the sleep controller transmits interrupt to the VIC to wake the CPU from sleep mode and transmits frame count result in Modulo 5ms with low frequency clock until a terminal wakes up. The synchronization controller controls each module and maintains synchronous through Modulo 5ms frame counting. The clock generator provides each module with a frequency clock required for each module.
