    • PURPOSE: An engine starting system is provided to lengthen the life span and to reduce noise. CONSTITUTION: An engine starting system has a motor(1), an output shaft(8), and a clutch part(23). The motor has a motor body(28) and a rotatable motor shaft(2) extended from the motor body. The output shaft has an outer part(14) arranged around the motor shaft. The output shaft is mounted to the front end(7) of the motor shaft coaxially with the motor in a freely rotating state. The output shaft transmits the rotation of the motor shaft to an engine. The clutch part is arranged between the motor shaft and the outer part. The clutch part transmits the rotation of the motor shaft to the output shaft, with the same rotational frequency.

    • [PROBLEMS] To provide a rotary electric machine for vehicles which is mounted on a car, such as an electric car or a hybrid car, wherein the rotary electric device and the inverter unit which controls the rotary electric device are integrated to improve size reduction and torque characteristics and efficiency of the rotary electric device. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] Since an inverter unit (4) is cooled by cooling wind forcefully produced by a cooling fan (28), the inverter unit (4) is efficiently cooled. Thus, the radiating fins (401a, 402a, 403a) of heat sinks (401, 402, 403) can be reduced in size, with the result that size reduction of the inverter unit (4) is attained and the mountability of the inverter unit (4) onto a rear bracket (19) is improved. Further, since the inverter unit (4) and rotary electric device (2) are cooled by the cooling wind produced by the cooling fan (28), the cooling medium (cooling wind) for the inverter unit (4) is used also for the rotary electric device (2), so that the cooling structure is simplified.
