    • PURPOSE: A back light unit of a liquid crystal display is provided to simplify the configuration of the back light unit by using carbon nano tube to reduce manufacturing cost and power consumption of the back light unit. CONSTITUTION: An upper substrate(1) used as an anode is coated with an ITO film(2), and a fluorescent layer(3) is coated on the ITO film. A thin film conductive layer(6) is coated on a lower substrate(7) used as a cathode, and a metal thin film(9) is formed on the thin film conductive layer in a predetermined pattern using electroplating, thermal deposition or sputtering. A carbon nano tube layer(10) is formed on the metal thin film, and fine metal grains(4) are filled between carbon nano tubes. The fine metal grains are formed using electroplating for the purpose of improving adhesion of the carbon nano tubes and electrode substrate. A spacer(5) is formed between the upper and lower substrates.

    • PURPOSE: A back light of a liquid crystal display is provided to form a carbon nano tube film with excellent adhesion characteristic to an electrode substrate and with high density, thereby obtaining uniform luminance and extending the life span of the back light.     • PURPOSE: A field emission device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to reduce parts count and manufacturing procedures by disposing a patterned carbon nanotube layer on a plane such that the current is uniformly distributed. CONSTITUTION: A field emission device comprises a support member; a cathode electrode(35) arranged on the support member; an emitter(36) arranged on the cathode electrode and made of carbon nanotubes; and a gate for controlling field emission of the emitter. The gate is constituted by a plurality of stripes spaced apart from each other. The emitter is disposed between the stripes. A method for manufacturing a field emission device comprises a step of depositing a paste containing nanotubes and patterning the resultant structure; a step of drying the pattern; a step of pressing the upper surface of the pattern by using a mold, and modifying the pattern by removing the mold; and a step of sintering the modified pattern.

    • PURPOSE: A field emission type lighting apparatus using a carbon nano tube is provided to economize the electric energy by maximizing the light emitting efficiency of the lighting apparatus. CONSTITUTION: An ITO(Indium Tin Oxide) layer is formed in the inside of a cylindrical substrate(4) used as an anode. A fluorescent layer is formed on the ITO layer. A carbon nano tube layer(3) having the thickness of 0.01 to 10 micro meter is formed on a wire(1) as a cathode by using an electrophoresis method. Fine metallic particles(2) are formed on the carbon nano tube layer(3) in order to improve the adhesive force between the wire(1) and the carbon nano tube. The fine metallic particles(2) are formed by using an electroplating method. The vacuum is formed between the cylindrical substrate and the wire(1).
