    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, which can sufficiently reduce the amount of H 2 S to be discharged and can exhibit sufficiently high-grade oxygen storage/release (OSC) performance even after exposed to a high-temperature condition for a long time. SOLUTION: The catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas is provided with: a base material; a first catalyst layer formed on the surface of the base material; and a second catalyst layer formed on the surface of the first catalyst layer. The first catalyst layer comprises: a first compound oxide containing ceria and zirconia; alumina; and platinum deposited on both of the first compound oxide and the alumina. The ceria content of the first compound oxide is ≥45 mass% of the total amount of the ceria and zirconia in the first compound oxide, the titania content of the alumina is ≤0.1 mass%, and the platinum content of the first catalyst layer is 0.01-5 mass%. The second catalyst layer comprises: a second compound oxide containing ceria and zirconia; titania-added alumina; and rhodium deposited on both of the second compound oxide and the titania-added alumina. The ceria content of the second compound oxide is 4-35 mass% of the total amount of the ceria and zirconia in the second compound oxide, the titania content of the titania-added alumina is 5-20 mass%, and the rhodium content of the second catalyst layer is 0.01-5 mass%.
