    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image forming apparatus, which excels in terms of brightness and flicker and suppresses crosstalk during observation in an oblique direction.SOLUTION: A stereoscopic image recognition device is provided, including a liquid crystal display device and a time-division image display blocker. A quarter-wave plate A is disposed in a viewer side of a polarizer of a display side polarizing plate of the liquid crystal display device. A liquid crystal sealed body and a quarter-wave plate B are disposed in a side of a polarizer, the side close to the liquid crystal display device, of the time-division image display blocker. The quarter-wave plate A and the quarter-wave plate B comprise a transparent supporting body, an alignment layer and an optical anisotropic layer containing a discotic liquid crystal compound. The discotic liquid crystal compound is aligned substantially perpendicular to the plane of the optical anisotropic layer. The polarizer of the display side polarizing plate of the liquid crystal display device, the transparent supporting body of the quarter-wave plate A, the alignment layer of the quarter-wave plate A and the optical anisotropic layer of the quarter-wave plate A are arranged in this order toward the viewer side, or the polarizer of the display side polarizing plate, the optical anisotropic layer of the quarter-wave plate A, the alignment layer of the quarter-wave plate A and the transparent supporting body of the quarter-wave plate A are arranged in this order.
