    • A peptide SY is produced by applying peptides, which have been obtained by treating fish meat with protease, to a peptide−adsorbing resin (ODS resin, etc.), then eluting successively with a 11 to 18 V/V % aqueous solution of ethanol and water, and combining a fraction (1) obtained after eluting with water and another fraction (2) obtained by eluting with the 11 to 18 V/V % aqueous solution of ethanol and water. Also, a peptide SY−MD is produced by isolating a fraction eluted with 11 to 18 V/V % aqueous solution of ethanol alone. The peptide SY and the peptide SY−MD are both novel peptide mixtures which contain a large amount of a newly found hypotensive peptide Val−Tyr, show little bitterness and have excellent taste and safety. Thus, these peptides are usable as hypotensive drugs, blood pressure increase inhibitors and functional foods aiming at preventing an increase in blood pressure.
