    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external additive for toner which does not react or interact with an organic photoreceptor, causes neither deterioration nor cracking of the photoreceptor because it is softer than conventional inorganic fine particles, causes no toner adhesion to the photoreceptor because of good fluidity, and has charging property independent of the environmental condition, and to provide toner with the external additive added.
      SOLUTION: The toner external additive for electrostatic image development comprises spherical hydrophilized silica fine particles having an average particle diameter of primary particles of 0.01-5 μm obtained by mixing (A) a spherical hydrophilic silica fine particle dispersion prepared by cohydrolysis and condensation reaction of a tetraalkoxysilane and/or a partial hydrolytic condensation product thereof with (B) a compound having a hydrolyzable silyl group and a hydrophilic group, reacting the spherical hydrophilic silica fine particles, and reacting the silica fine particles after the reaction with (C) a silazane compound and/or a silane compound. The toner with the external additive added is also provided.

The silicone oil is prevented from bleeding out to the toner surface by the effect of the shell resin of the microcapsules. The microcapsules having silicone oil as the core substance can not release the inner silicone oil until the shell is broken by heating and pressurizing in fixing. As a result, offset resistance and blocking resistance can be improved.
