    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insulated wire having excellent scratch resistance and insulation characteristics while using aluminum or an aluminum alloy in conductors.SOLUTION: An insulation wire includes a conductor based on aluminum or an aluminum alloy and an insulation layer covering the peripheral surface of the conductor. The peripheral surface of the conductor has an arithmetic average roughness (Ra) of 20-100 nm and a concentration of metals other than aluminum in the peripheral surface of the conductor is 1 mass% or lower. The maximum height (Ry) of the peripheral surface of the conductor is preferably 200-1,200 nm. The peripheral surface of the conductor is preferably etched with an alkali and then cleaned with a nitric acid. The average number of times of torsion before peeling of the insulation layer in a peeling test is preferably 50 or greater. The carbon concentration of the peripheral surface of the conductor is preferably 4 mass% or lower.

Final heat treatment is then applied after the final wire drawing process. The conductor obtained is excellent in elongation, yield strength, and heat resistance.

      SOLUTION: A paint containing a film forming resin and polysulfide polymer is coated on the surface of the conductor with a quantity so that the thickness after curing may be 4 μm or more, and then, is heated and cured, thereby, a primer layer with a thickness of 4 μm or more by coating and heating curing of one cycle is formed between the conductor and the insulating film. The primer layer so formed has a portion having a more content of sulfur atoms than the content of oxygen atoms on the interface side with the conductor.
