The seal housing defining an aperture that is configured to allow a breathing gas to enter the cushion module. The cushion module has a seal 180 supported by the seal housing 190. The seal has a face contacting surface that creates a substantial seal with the face of a user. The upper portion of the seal has a reduced stiffness potion defined between a first boundary (1090, fig 22) and a second boundary (1092, fig 22). The first and second boundaries have an increased stiffness relative to the region of reduced stiffness. The reduced stiffness portion deforms in response to forward movement of an upper portion of the face contacting surface. The angle defined between the first and second boundary is at least 20 degrees. The reduced stiffness portion comprises a rolling portion (172, fig 27) configured to roll over onto an outer surface of the cushion module in response to the forward movement of the upper portion of the face contacting surface. The cushion module can have nose pads (1032, fig 17).

The seal having improved seal performance and accommodating a wider variety of facial geometries. The bias-flow system having a tube and exhaust holes radially aligned on a bead of the tube. The bias-flow system also having an annular component exhaust holes and a shroud having a plenum chamber around the exhaust holes.

摘要： A respiratory mask comprising a frame portion 120 configured to support a seal 180 that forms an airtight seal with a user’s face. The frame portion also comprises a conduit connector 130 having a ball joint end (Fig 3b, 300a). The frame portion defines an opening 140 for the ball joint end of the conduit connector. The frame portion has a notch (Fig 4A, 430) that provides a leverage point for removal of the conduit connector. A portion of the conduit connector is configured to be received in the notch facilitating its removal from the frame portion. The ball joint can have an end surface comprising a tapered chamfer (Fig 3B, 306). The conduit connector can be an elbow. The conduit connector can be removable from the opening when orientated to a predetermined position. The frame portion can comprise a cushion module 110 and a headgear connector portion (Fig 2A, 210). The frame portion can comprise a male forehead piece connector (Fig 2B, 230) configured to connect to a separate forehead piece. The headgear can comprise a spacer fabric (Fig 7A, 730) comprising two or more layers at the rear of the head gear.

The headgear includes a pair of forehead straps that are coupled together by a forehead coupler to form a closed loop. The forehead coupler is removably connected to a frame of the respiratory mask such that the forehead straps remain in a closed loop. The pair of forehead straps can also be coupled together by positioning a male strap portion within an aperture of a female strap portion. The male strap portion has a free end that is configured to be received into the aperture. The male strap portion includes a plurality of notches that engage the aperture of the female strap portion and provide incremental adjustment. The free ends of the male and female strap portions have fasteners configured to engage the surface of the other strap portion.
