    • In one aspect of the invention, a battery management system includes a plurality of battery units, a voltage sensing module for detecting a voltage of each battery unit, an active balancing module for reducing a total voltage of the battery units and transmitting the reduced total voltage to a given battery unit needed to be charged, a controller electrically connected with the voltage sensing module and the active balancing module, and signal buses electrically connected with the voltage sensing module and the active balancing module. The signal buses are controlled by the controller to selectively electrically connect with the positive pole and the negative pole of one of the battery units. The controller is adapted for obtaining voltage signals from the voltage sensing module, determining the given battery unit according to the obtained voltage signals, and controlling power provided by the active balancing module for charging the given battery unit.

    • The present invention relates to a battery management system and a method thereof. The system includes a number of battery units connected in series, a DC/DC converter module and a controller controlling the DC/DC converter module to operate under one of at least two operation modes. The battery units include a given battery unit needed to be charged. When the DC/DC converter module operates in a first operation mode, the DC/DC converter module receives and reduces a total voltage of all the battery units and transmits the reduced voltage to charge the given battery unit. When the DC/DC converter module operates in a second operation mode, the DC/DC converter module receives and converts a cumulated voltage of part of the battery units and transmits the converted voltage to charge the given battery unit.

    • The present invention discloses a charging management system and a charger with such charging management system. The charging management system includes a first signal-output port, a second signal-output port, a third signal-output port and a controller electrically connected with the first, second and third signal-output ports. The first and second signal-output ports are adapted for outputting first and second control signals representing first and second charging currents, respectively, to a charging circuit. The third signal-output port is adapted for outputting a third control signal representing a variable third charging current to the charging circuit. The controller controls the charging management system to operate under at least one of two modes. In the first mode, the controller alternately controls the first and second signal-output ports to output the first and second control signals. In the second mode, the controller only controls the third signal-output port to output the third control signal.
