    • A turbomolecular pump includes: a rotor (30) formed with rotating blades (32) in a plurality of stages, and rotating at high speed; a plurality of fixed blades (33) arranged along axial direction of the pump so as to alternate with respect to the rotating blades (32); a pump housing (34) containing the rotating blades (32) and the fixed blades (33), and formed with an inlet opening (21a); a circular disk (150), provided close to the inlet opening of the rotor (30), and arranged so as to oppose a surface of the rotor (30) radially inward than a root portion of the rotating blades; and a cylindrical mesh structure (153a, 153b), disposed between the inlet opening (21a) and the rotor (30), and made by interlacing fine wires. Particles that strike the rotor and bounce off are captured internally in the mesh structure (153a, 153b).

    • The present invention provides a vacuum pump capable of suppressing the structure from becoming complicated and improving the damping effect. The vacuum pump includes: a holding mechanism for clamping an outer race of the ball bearing in an axial direction and holding the outer race so that the outer race moves along a radial direction; and an elastic member disposed at an outer circumferential side of the outer race. The elastic member is disposed in contact with or close to the outer circumferential side of the outer race. Oil or grease is injected into a gap between the elastic member and the outer race. Through holding the outer race against the elastic member, the elastic member is deformed to suppress vibration. Furthermore, through injecting oil or grease into the gap, the damping effect can be further improved.

    • A supercharger thrust bearing for use in a machine rotatable at a high speed includes radial oil grooves formed in a pad surface. Gradients are formed at the outward radial ends of the oil supply grooves such that the groove depth sequentially diminishes as the outside in the radial direction is approached. The machine rotatable at a high speed is, for example, a boat or a ship. The lubricating oil inside the oil supply grooves is forced out by the gradients and creates a dam. The lubrication oil flowing in a circumferential direction on the pad surface, which is heated on the pad surface, is stopped by this dam and turned to a radially outward direction. The heated oil is pushed out from the pad surface and the new cold oil is caused to flow onto the pad surface from the radial grooves.
