    • A method of gathering statistics of gray distribution of an image in an image processing device is provided. The method includes determining gray information of a plurality of data of an input image, wherein each piece of information corresponds to a count value. In addition, a fixed value is sequentially added to the corresponding count value according to the gray information of the data. When the count value exceeds a predetermined value, the count value is reset and the gray distribution of the image is updated. The count value of each piece of gray information is accumulated and when the accumulated value exceeds a predetermined value, the gray distribution of the image is updated to simplify the flow of process of the method of gathering statistics of gray distribution of an image.

    • An overdriving apparatus including a memory unit, a position unit and an overdriving unit is provided. The memory unit stores a present frame received and outputs a previous frame stored in the memory unit. The position unit generates pixel position information according to a display control signal of the present frame. The overdriving unit determines a corresponding relationship between several pixel grey values of the present frame and several display areas of a display panel according to the pixel position information, so as to select a corresponding specific table group of each of the pixel grey values from a plurality of overdriving tables. The overdriving unit further generates an overdriving frame by looking up the corresponding specific table group of each of the pixel grey values.

    • An image compression/decompression device and a method thereof are provided. In the method, a first array is generated according to an input image array, and further, a second array is generated by performing an edge detection algorithm according to the input image array. Besides, a plurality of elements of a third array is generated according to the first array. Furthermore, a group of elements of the third array is selected according to the second array. In addition, an average value of the group of elements is computed to obtain an element of an output image array. Each element of the input image array and the third array is M bits, and each element of the first array is N bits, wherein M and N are natural numbers, and M is larger than N. Thereby, the quality of a decompressed image is improved.

    • In a display system, sums of differences between two consecutive frames are calculated according to differences, which are able to indicate a degree of difference between frames, such as pixel differences or luminance differences. A motion proportion is calculated according to various values of sums of differences of different blocks between frames, so that the degree of difference between the two consecutive frames may be indicated more concretely. At last, according to settings of a lookup table, different motion proportions may respectively correspond to different frame rates and different displaying states for displaying a frame under different requirements, so that the aim of saving power consumption without reducing display quality of frames is fulfilled.
