    • An education and training system and method where a trainee plays the role of a mentor to a simulated colleague who is performing a simulated procedure. Various views of the simulated colleague are presented on one or more monitors so that the trainee-as-mentor can observe the actions taken by the simulated colleague. The views will often be focused upon the hands of the simulated colleague. The trainee-as-mentor must observe the simulated colleague and provide instructions or commands to the simulated colleague in order to correct inappropriate actions. The trainee-as-mentor is evaluated on his or her ability to discern mistakes, miscues, poor technique, out of order steps, etc., and provide instructions to correct the mistake and prevent undesired outcomes.

    • A computer aided interactive medical management information and control system (100) and method includes one or more devices (122) and a computing platform and associated software that assists the health care provider in performing a treatment on a patient. Output information of equipment relevant to performing the treatment is integrated with reference databases of best demonstrated practices, similar cases, industry guidelines, and procedure and equipment trouble shooting. The present invention can also serve as a remote control for networked medical equipment and provide data for the patient record. The health care provider is able to immediately access emergency procedures and/or be voice and/or video linked to other institutions and personnel for consultation while performing the treatment. Diagnostic systems information may be combined with current patient information and analyzed to provide real time guidance and alerts for adverse events, and provide references for managing critical stages of the treatment.

    • A medicinal syringe includes a plunger (16) with a non-integral plunger stick (30), and the plunger is completely contained within the syringe barrel (11). A plunger stick (30) may be detachably attached to the plunger (16) for transporting fluid into and out of the syringe. The syringe is further adapted for use with a pumping mechanism (40) having an integral plunger. The pumping mechanism (40) may positively connect with the plunger (16) to prevent inadvertent plunger motion and consequent loss of medicine. The syringe may be partially or completely hermetically sealed by applying a membrane (270) across its distal end to insure sterility.
