摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a control device that calculates a developing ability of the developing device based on a detection value detected by an optical detection device from the plural toner patches. The control device adjusts an image formation condition based on the calculated developing ability. A factor detection device is provided to detect a contributing factor that causes the developing ability to largely change after the last adjustment of the image formation condition. The control device controls image formation such that when the factor detection device does not detect the contribution factor and a developing ability calculated this time is different from that calculated last time (as to a part of the plural toner patches), the plural toner patches are formed based on a prescribed fixed image formation condition so that an attraction amount of toner attracting to the plural toner patches enter a prescribed range detectable for the optical detection device. The remaining toner patches are formed (based on an image formation condition determined) in accordance with the image formation condition previously adjusted. When the detection device detects the contribution factor, the entire toner patches are formed based on the prescribed fixed condition.

摘要： A process cartridge for use in an image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member and a developing unit. 摘要： A predetermined processing liquid is supplied by a liquid supplying unit to a sheet of transfer paper having a surface on which toner is stably attached. An adhesive state of the toner on the transfer paper sheet is changed to an unstable adhesive state. The processing liquid is constructed by water, aqueous solutions of a surfactant, a water-soluble polymer, etc. The transfer paper sheet including the processing liquid is fed to a toner separating unit. While the toner is heated and pressurized in the toner separating unit, the toner is attached to a separating roller having a surface on which the softened toner is easily attached. The toner separating unit then separates only the transfer paper sheet from the surface of the separating roller by a separating claw. The processing liquid is removed from the transfer paper sheet by heating the transfer paper sheet, etc. using a drying unit such that the transfer paper sheet can be reused for a copying machine, etc. Thereafter, the transfer paper sheet is discharged onto a paper discharging tray. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a method and an apparatus for regenerating and reusing the transfer paper sheet by removing the toner therefrom without damaging paper fibers.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus having a charging member for charging a photoconductive element in the form of a drum or a belt in contact therewith, a cleaning member cleans the surface of a charge roller contacting the photoconductive element. The cleaning member is usually spaced apart from the surface of the charge roller, but the former is caused to contact the latter only for a predetermined period of time at predetermined intervals. This frees the charge roller from excessive cleaning due to the cleaning member and, therefore, obviates defective images. The time for causing the cleaning member to contact the charge roller may be changed on the basis of the degree of contamination of the charge roller in order to cope with accidental smears brought about on the charge roller.
