    • PURPOSE:To polish aluminum, etc. chemically, slowly and inexpensively and to obtain bright surfaces by preparing a bath comprising essentially of sulfuric acid, adding corrosion inhibiting, adsorbing and smoothing agents such as magnesium sulfate thereto, maintaining the bath at specific temp. and dipping the aluminum, etc. therein. CONSTITUTION:A bath is prepd. comprising essentially of sulfuric acid, and >=1 kind of corrosion inhibiting, adsorbing and smoothing agents such magnesium sulfate, alum, other soluble sulfates, oxygen acids such as ammonium molybdate and the salts thereof, alkaline or earth aluminosilicate (zeolite) and other bentonites are added thereto. The bath temp. is kept at 50-150 deg.C and aluminum and aluminum alloys are dipped therein, whereby bright or bright satin surfaces are obtained with mild chemical polishing using inexpensive additives without generation of harmful gases, etc. It is preferable for improvement in corrosion inhibiting or polishing effects, etc. to contain metallic salts and phosphoric acids having polyvalent ions into the soln. consisting essentially of sulfate.

    • PURPOSE: To provide excellent color tones with ease to aluminum by immersing the aluminum in an acidic soln. contg. tin-salt then immersing the same in a soln. contg. a heavy metal chloride and hydrochloric acid and further immersing the aluminum into a soln. of a nickel salt, reducing agent, boric acid, amino acid, etc.
      CONSTITUTION: Al and Al alloy or those which are subjected to an anodization treatment are immersed in an soln. contg. tin-slat or an acidic or alkaline soln. contg. the same plus oxycarboxylic acid or its salt or an alkaline soln. contg. tin-salt. The Al is then immersed in a soln. contg. a heavy metallic chrloride plus a hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid or further a buffer such as acetate and a complex forming agent such as amine or the like in addition to the same. The Al is further immersed in a soln. prepd. by adding an inorg. or org. reducing agent, boric acid, and a material such as amino acid, oxycarboxylic acid or their salts having a buffer effect or a complex forming ability to an Ni-salt or a tin-salt or a mixture thereof. Color tones from yellow and brown colors to a black color are thus enabled.

    • PURPOSE: To easily perform pigmentation of aluminum or an aluminum alloy to a wide range of stable color tone within a short time by electrolysis, by a method wherein an anodically oxidized film is applied to aluminum or the aluminum alloy by a usual method and, thereafter, AC secondary electrolysis is performed in a strong acidic bath comprising sulfuric acid containing a heavy metal salt, an Sn salt and a soluble complexing agent of Sn.
      CONSTITUTION: After anodically oxidized film is applied, AC secondary electrolysis is performed in a strong acidic bath containing a heavy metal salt, an Sn salt, a soluble complexing agent of Sn as mentioned hereinbelow and 0.5vol% or more free sulfuric acid. In this case, the soluble complexing agent of Sn to be used contains aliphatic carboxylic acid, oxycarboxylic acid, amino acid, aromatic alcohol, carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid, amines or acid or a salt having said groups in common.
