[Also in Divisions D1, F2 and G3] Batch rolls 5, 6, of a dye jigger are associated with a guide 10 pivotally mounted on shaft 10a and comprising frames 10b having adjustable counter-weight 8a. The fabric 8 passes over a flexible rod lOc and a guide roller 10d in passing from the roll 6 to the roll 5. During the reverse process, the fabric engages the roller 10e instead of the roller 10d. For operation at constant fabric velocity, and tension, winding and unwinding rolls 5, 6, are driven by discs 22, 23, respectively, a friction roller 31 being located between the discs and driven by induction motor 93. The friction roller is adapted to be swung between stops 40, 41, about pivot 29. A connecting rod 42 is mounted between side bearing 32 of the friction roller and a steel yard balance 44, the force due to balance-weight 47 being compared with a force signal which is a function of the sum of the reactive forces due to fabric tension at both contact points of the friction roller. The resultant control force displaces the rod 42 to vary the value of inductor 55 in circuit with servomotor 92 whereby the ratio between the effective radii of the discs 22, 23, is made equal to the ratio between the radii of the rolls 1, 2. The fabric tension is set by means of scale 46 associated with the balance 44. A crank disc 72 guides the discs 22, 23, on slide bases-63, 64 by means of pins 75, 76, having screw-and-nut adjustment through handle 85. A scale 89 indicates the magnitude of the maximum thickness of the wound fabric. The crank disc is also driven by servomotor 92. The reaction exerted upon the bearing 32 due to mechanical loss in the driving mechanism is counteracted by plunger magnets 102, 103, and 111, 112, coupled to springs and balance arms which engage pins on the rod 42. The movable core 56 of inductance 55 is shifted in accordance with a time constant determined by buffer spring 53 and shock absorber 54. The core 56 has a dead range of movement on either side of neutral. An over-voltage relay is connected to the motor 92 which is energized through silicon-controlled rectifiers, so that the electrical power supply is discontinued if the motor speed becomes excessive. The upper and lower windings of the inductance 55 are connected to the centre-tapped secondary windings of a pair of transformers to form phase-shift circuits for gating the two silicon-controlled rectifiers. The servomotor 92 is supplied through these rectifiers and a reversing switch, Fig. 7 (not shown).

    • A heat-resistant thermoplastic resin composition comprising 5-95 parts by weight of a polyamide resin (A), 5-95 parts by weight of an unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer (B) comprising 40-80 wt.% of an aromatic vinyl compound, 15-50 wt.% of a vinyl cyanide compound, 0.1-20 wt.% of an unsaturated carboxylic acid compound and 0-30 wt.% of other copolymerizable vinyl compound, and 5-50 parts by weight of a graft copolymer (C) prepared by grafting 60-5 wt.% of a vinyl compound onto 40-95 wt.% of a diene rubber having an average particle diameter of 0.1-2.0 mu m, which composition further contains kaolin (D) in an amount of 0.1-30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight in total of the components (A), (B) and (C). The composition provides moldings excellent in thermal deformation and impact resistances and appearance, and has a good flowability in molding.
