    • An expansive and expandable monitoring system which in one of its broadest embodiments includes a multi-sector, multi-condition monitoring system including radio linked alert monitors, smoke monitors and an expandable range of activity monitors such as door-opening monitors and toilet-flushing monitors and including method and apparatus for identifying a particular monitor within a sector; wherein each sector stands itself as a unique sub-system built about a two-wire bus on which both power identifying signals are simultaneously conveyed along the same two wires; and within each sector, the plurality of monitoring devices receive operating power from a common power source and convey identifying signals to a common discriminator (identifier) arrangement all along the common two-wire bus, each monitoring device being constructed with a unique arrangement of current modulating and signal/voltage isolation elements to facilitate the common bus--common power source--common discriminator scheme of the present invention; and wherein the system includes unique, all coded receivers including method and apparatus for accepting, encoding, conveying and decoding the coded signals of a plurality of transmitter devices.

A program stored in a controller's memory has a plurality of data structures formulated into instruction modules and at least one navigational location record. A Global Positioning Module receives data from an associated Global Positioning System and translates the received data into the vehicle's present navigational position. An Automatic Speed Controlled Location Detection Module in communication with the Global Positioning Module dynamically searches the memory for a match between the vehicle's present navigational position and the navigational location record. The Automatic Speed Controlled Collision Detection Module in communication with the Automatic Speed Controlled Location Detection Module formulates the match between the vehicle's navigational position and the navigational location record into a collision event. A Data to Speech Translation Module in communication with the Automatic Speed Controlled Collision Detection Module translates the collision event into a synthetic voice.

    • An intelligent alerting and locating communication system includes a centrally located scanner which communicates with a plurality of remotely located receivers to continuously monitor conditions through a plurality of detectors associated with each receiver, including smoke detectors and motion detectors, and through personal radio transmitters. Each detector detects an off-normal state in a monitored condition and makes an indication that is sensed by at least one receiver which stores the occurrence in memory. Each radio frequency transmitter emits a unique coded signal which is received by one or more receivers. If the coded signal is in a valid format, the coded signal is stored in memory. If the coded signal matches a unique code assigned to that receiver, a matched code signal is generated and also stored in memory. The scanner polls each receiver for information stored in memory by sending out unique addresses onto a communication link connecting all receivers, and the appropriate receiver responds to the polling by sending condition information back to the scanner, including any code received from any transmitter so that every receiver which receives a transmitter code communicates that code to the scanner. A controller device is connected to the scanner device which receives address information from the scanner and condition information, including transmitter codes, from each receiver and processes that information and information from a related database to generate a graphical display of condition data, related database data, and location information derived from receiver addresses.
