The aim of the invention is to configure a wire erosion device of this kind in such a way that it can be operated with a wire (13) having a diameter less than 50 mu m. To this end the drive means (15) present flow producing elements which, in the wire feed direction, generate a fluid flow downstream of the machining zone (5) which coaxially surrounds the wire (13), flows in the direction of feed and in this way introduces the tensile force into the wire (13).
