[Class 87 (ii).] A collapsible bottomless mould for forming L-shaped or return building-blocks, particularly faced blocks, comprises two sides 9, 10 having upward extensions 9a, 10 for forming the return portion, three ends 12, 21, 11, which mould the outer and inner surfaces of the return portion and the block end surface respectively, a pair of removable tie members 14, 15 extending between the mould sides and acted upon by wedges 16, 17 or the like to hold the two ends 11, 21 in position, and means for securing the end 12 to the sides so that it can be separately removed. The end 12 has a reinforcing member 12 and the upper and lower edges of the sides and ends are strengthened by metal strips 25. Adjustable fillets 13 are secured to the inner walls of the sides 9, 10. The end 12 is secured by bolts 22 and nuts 23 which are pivoted on the sides and engage slotted plates 24 on the end 12. The return face can thus be exposed separately for brushing, after which the bottom face is brushed. Facing material is first filled into the mould bottom and then material is fill d into position for the return face ; this is facilitated by inserting a plate a short distance from the end 12. The mould is formed of wood such as yellow pine. Specification 400,774 is referred to.

摘要： Faced building-blocks are formed face downwards in collapsable bottomless moulds, the contact surfaces of which are oiled. A moist mixture of pebbles, Dorset peas, &c., and cement, with or without sand, is spread and pressed down on a pallet in the mould, a filling of concrete is put in, the whole is allowed partly to set, the surface of the facing material is exposed and cleaned by brushing or washing, the mould is disassembled, and the block is removed and allowed to cure. The facing material may comprise 17 parts by volume of pit sand, 42 parts of 3/8 -inch Dorset pebbles, and 7 parts of Portland cement. The filling material may comprise 4 parts by volume of 3/8 -\ba1/4 -inch whinstone chips, 3 parts of whinstone sand and 1 1/2 parts of Portland cement. The ingredients are mixed in a thoroughly wet state. Specifications 3573/83, [Class 87, Moulding &c.], and 400,861 are referred to.
