摘要： This invention relates generally to an exercise and strengthening device for fingers and hands and a method of exercising and strengthening same, along with certain muscles of the arm(s). More particularly, it relates to a device which applies a reactive force against the hand(s) and one or more of the fingers of a user when the device is held firmly in one or both of a user's hands. The user specifies the hand(s) and finger(s) upon which the device applies such force by either selecting an appropriately configured device or fixing a changeable device in a desired configuration. The device is preferably configured to resemble the grips of an instrumentality the user would hold while working (e.g., the grip of a hand tool) or while playing a sport (e.g., the grip of a golf club or baseball bat). The invention also relates to a method of exercising or rehabilitating fingers, individually or as a group, to strengthen the hand(s) and desired finger(s) thereof.

摘要： A gear sling comprising a padded shoulder strap 1 from which an elasticated material is attached at both ends to form a sling 2 upon which climbing equipment can be detachably attached. The gear sling allows climbing protection to be placed in position before detaching it from the gear sling thus reducing the risk of dropping the climbing protection before it has been made secure. Preferably attached to the elasticated sling are a number of sliding loops 8 which are each attached to a strap via a rotating link that accommodates a standard karabiner upon which climbing equipment may be detachably attached. Preferably the tension of the elasticated material may be varied by a tension adjuster 4 to allow differing weights of climbing gear to be maintained in the correction position in relation to the wearer. The elasticated material may be enclosed within a protective flexible tubing 6 to prevent excessive wear.

摘要： Traditional solar control applications rely on thin metal films to reflect EM radiation with wavelengths longer than that of the visible spectrum. Unfortunately such films also block radiation in cellular, GPS, and radio frequency bands. In one aspect, the disclosure provides a selectively-blocking filter that uses one or more optical filters tuned to a specific range(s) of wavelengths (e.g. for blocking IR radiation), while readily transmitting other wavelengths (e.g. both visible light and cellular/GPS signals). The filters can be manufactured on both flexible and rigid substrates.

摘要： The invention relates to processes for preparing 3α-O-linked steroids including 3α-O-linked-androst-5-ene steroids and 3α-O-linked-5α-androstane steroids. In one process a 3α,4α-epoxy androst-5-en-17-one is predominately reduced at the epoxy moiety wherein reduction of the 3α,4α epoxy functional group occurs preferentially at position C4 with retention of configuration at position C3 to provide a 3α-O-linked-androst-5-ene steroid. In another process, conditions are provided for inversion of configuration of a 3β-hydroxy-androst-5-ene steroid by the Mitsunobu reaction to provide a 3α-O-linked-androst-5-ene steroid with reduced amounts of 3α,5α-cycloandrostane side-product impurities.
