    • Body support systems (10, 100, 200) include uppermost comfort layers (12, 112, 212), having a support surface (14, 114, 214), disposed above a central core of the body support system (10, 100, 200), the uppermost comfort layer (12, 112, 212) comprising a temperature and pressure sensitive cellular polymer material; central cores having one or more internal air flow guides (16, 116, 216) that form part of each system for pressure redistribution, and withdrawal of heat and moisture away from said uppermost comfort layer (12, 112, 212) or body-supporting layer(s). During operation of the system, heat and/or moisture is directed by an airflow unit (48, 148, 248) from the uppermost comfort layer (12, 112, 212) or body-supporting layer(s) into the central core portion of the body support system and out of the body support system. The internal air flow guide(s) (16, 116, 216) are formed of cellular polymer material and are coupled to the uppermost comfort layer to form an air flow path (18, 118, 218).
