摘要： A sizing sleeve for controlling the diameter of plastic tube includes pressurised sizing sleeve portions (10) in which fluid is injected under pressure about the tube circumference to form a lubricating layer. Drainage zones (12) axially separate and isolate adjacent pressurised portions to allow independent temperature and pressure control. Each pressurised portion has flow stabilizing means (28) reducing variations in flow responsive to changes in the lubricating layer pressure. The stabilising means may comprise a high pressure fluid source and high pressure drop constriction means comprising fine apertures (56), which may be formed as grooves milled into end surface of abutting sizing sleeve segments (30).

摘要： A method and apparatus for soil moisture content determination. The apparatus includes a probe, a peak temperature detector (7) and a source of heat pulse (9). The probe is principally responsive to the thermal capacity of a sample, and comprises a body (1) substantially enclosing the sample (2), which may be soil, in such a manner as to minimise the effect of the thermal conductivity of the sample. A pulse of heat is applied to the sample and the resultant peak temperature rise is detected. From the resultant peak temperature rise the moisture content can be assessed.

It has been determined that, once fermentation is complete, the temperature of a brew (such as beer) shows a tendency to stratify in horizontal layers. However, the activity of fermentation disrupts the tendency of the brew to stratify. Accordingly, the brewing apparatus comprises at least two temperature sensors positioned to measure a temperature difference between the temperature at a first height of the brew and the temperature at a second height of the brew. End of fermentation is identified if the temperature difference is greater than a threshold difference.
