    • A combination simple and compound mitre gauge constitutes the subject matter of the present invention. The mitre gauge is intended to be utilized with power woodworking tools. The mitre gauge constitutes both a simple and compound gauge by utilizing an elongated member which slides in a groove on the supporting table and a support plate coupled with the member which is movable about a vertical axis and can be held in a given position by appropriate locking means. The support plate presents a vertical surface which mounts a guide that can be moved into one of two positions to vary the length of it. The guide may also be removed and a planar surface presenting shoe pivotally coupled with the support plate. The angle of the planar surface of the shoe may be varied and means is provided for locking the shoe in any given position. Thus, the planar work piece supporting surface of the mitre gauge is movable about both horizontal and vertical axes so as to accommodate any desired angle of contact between the work piece and the cutting tool.

    • A collapsible stand for an upright vertical support is the subject of this invention. A U-shaped bracket holds a roller and is mounted on a telescoping stanchion by use of a set screw in the collar of the bracket. The stanchion is in turn supported by a stand, the base portion of which comprises three legs which are bolted to two horizontal plates positioned one above the other. The lower plate is larger than the upper plate and thereby determines the angle of disposition of the legs. The stand is collapsible by disengaging the legs from the plates and dismounting the bracket and roller assembly from the stanchion.

    • The present invention relates to a saw blade holder for precision saws. Precision saws are designed to hold a saw blade between two parallel arms. Upper and lower blade holders mount the saw blade on the arms. The present invention relates to the lower blade holder and comprises two clamping elements which are designed to threadably engage and fit inside of a slotted tubular member. The blade passes through the slot in the tubular member and is clamped between the two clamping elements. The tubular member is comprised of a finely divided metal which has been shaped into the desired configuration utilizing a lubricant which is embedded throughout the thickness of the tubular sleeve. This lubricant is released over the lifetime of the tubular member so as to continually lubricate the wear points thus reducing wear and the adverse effects associated therewith.

    • A blade tensioning mechanism for use with a parallel arm saw. A bolt extends between one end of the arms which are pivotably mounted along their length to the supporting framework of the saw and a saw blade is held between the other ends of the arms. A camming device is coupled with one end of the bolt and exerts a camming force on one of the arms when the device is rotated in one direction. This force caused the ends of the arms coupled with the bolt to move together and causes the other ends of the arms to spread apart, and securely hold the saw blade by tension. Rotation of the camming device in the other direction relaxes the tension force for removal and replacement of the blade.

    • A combination simple and compound mitre gauge along with a precision split fence constitute the subject matter of the present invention. Both the mitre gauge and fence are intended to be utilized with power woodworking tools. The mitre gauge constitutes both a simple and compound gauge by utilizing an elongated member which slides in a groove on the supporting table and a suppport plate coupled with the member which is movable about a vertical axis and can be held in a given position by appropriate locking means. The support plate presents a vertical surface which mounts a guide that can be moved into one of two positions to vary the length of it. The guide may also be removed and a planar surface presenting shoe pivotally coupled with the support plate. The angle of the planar surface of the shoe may be varied and means is provided for locking the shoe in any given position. Thus, the planar work piece supporting surface of the mitre gauge is movable about both horizontal and vertical axes so as to accommodate any desired angle of contact between the work piece and the cutting tool. The guide fence of the invention employs two mirror image L-shaped brackets each of which has a vertical guide plate that presents a guide surface in perpendicular relationship to the supporting table and means presenting an aligning surface in spaced relationship to the guide surface. In this manner, one half of the fence may be squared followed by movement of the other half of the fence a desired distance and it may then be squared utilizing the two aligning surfaces which can be locked together.

    • An improved planing head for a wood planar is the subject of the present invention. A cylindrical planing head has a plurality of slots which receive the cutting blades and gib means for holding the blades in place during the planing operation. The slots and gibs are designed so that the blade sits on the bottom of the slot and tightening of the gib forces the blade down against the slot bottom. This assures that the blade will always remain in proper alignment. It is preferable to employ jack screws in the bottom of the slot so as to provide means for adjusting the blade height as needed. In either case, the only requirement for realigning a blade when an old blade is taken out and a new blade is put in is to be sure that the bottom of the blade sits on the bottom of the slot where it will be in the exact same position as the previous blade.

    • A dimensional cutting tool for flat wood stock is the subject of the present invention. The cutting tool comprises a table structure, the flat surface of which is movable vertically to accommodate varying thicknesses of wood. Two or more circular saw blades are movably attached to a horizontal shaft above the table surface and may be positioned anywhere along the length of the shaft. When wood stock is to be cut, the table surface height is appropriately adjusted and the saw blades positioned at the desired cutting locations. First and second power feed rollers, driven by an electric motor and drive belt assembly, feed wood stock through the machine, thus providing precise feeding of the wood both into and away from the blades. Additionally, the cutting head can be replaced with a planing or molding head without further modification of the tool.
