In an example, the antenna device includes a cell patch comprising an enclosed conductive portion formed along an exterior edge of the cell patch, leaving an interior portion of the cell patch to partially expose the substrate. A feed structure is electromagnetically coupled to the cell patch, a via line is coupled to the ground electrode, and a via couples the via line to the cell patch.

摘要： A wireless communication device is provided with a multipart case, having electrical interfaces that encourage the flow of radiation frequency ground current between case sections. The multipart case has a first planar groundplane section and a second planar groundplane section. For example, the multipart case design may be a slider, double slider, multiple hinge, flip, or swivel case. The second planar groundplane is substantially coplanar with the first groundplane in a case open position, and substantially bi-planar with the first groundplane in a case closed position. The wireless device also includes an antenna located adjacent the second groundplane section first end. A first and a second interface electrically connect the first groundplane section to the second groundplane section second end (the end opposite the antenna).

摘要： A frequency-tunable capacitively-loaded magnetic dipole antenna includes a transformer loop having a balanced feed interface, and a capacitively-loaded magnetic dipole radiator with a tunable effective electrical length. In one embodiment, the capacitively-loaded magnetic dipole radiator includes a tunable electric field bridge. For example, the capacitively-loaded magnetic dipole radiator may comprise a quasi loop with a tunable electric field bridge interposed between the quasi loop first and second ends. The electric field bridge may be an element such as a ferroelectric (FE) tunable capacitor or a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) capacitor, to name a couple of examples. In certain embodiments, the capacitively-loaded magnetic dipole radiator includes a quasi loop with a loop perimeter. The effective electrical length of the radiator is changed by adjusting the perimeter using an element such as a MEMS switch, or a semiconductor switch.

The loop portion is connected to the mobile wireless communication device at one end and detachably connected or grounded to the mobile wireless communication device at the other end. An antenna that arches away from the body of a phone, but connects at both ends to the body of the phone has improved performance over an internal antenna, and yet retains the advantages of an internal antenna. Further, if the antenna is detachably connected to the phone at one end, then either better performance can be achieved if the antenna can be moved further away from the body of the phone, or the antenna can be used as a latch to attach the phone to slender objects.
