    • Systems and methods for user-initiated location-based services through messaging. Using a messaging client running on a communication device, a user transmits location information via a text and/or instant message to a recipient. The location information may be obtained from a GPS program or other location determining program accessible or installed on the user's communication device. A network identifier such as a URL is created based on the location information and is appended into the message. When the recipient selects the network identifier, electronic content such as a graphic map including the sender's location is displayed on the recipient's communication device.

    • A system establishes a communication path between a mobile node and a first label edge router, registers the mobile node at the first label edge router, and creates a mobility binding at the first label edge router. The system also establishes a label switched path between the first label edge router and a second label edge router by propagating the mobility binding in the system, and establishes communication between the mobile node and a corresponding node over the label switched path. The system further maintains the communication between the mobile node and the corresponding node over the system when the mobile node moves from one physical location to another physical location and causes a handoff of the mobile node between two layer 2 grooming networks.

A second boundary router is coupled to a public network. The access network connects to the first boundary router, and wherein the first boundary router and the second boundary router are connected by a separate logical connection to prevent denial of service attacks on the physical access link originating from sources outside the VPN.

    • An approach for providing network security is disclosed. The system includes a first set of routing devices (e.g., routers, routing switches, etc.) operating redundantly within an autonomous system. The system also includes a second set of routing devices that are configured for redundant operation within the autonomous system and to communicate with another autonomous system. The sets of routing devices provide a communication path between the autonomous systems for transport of untrusted packets and trusted packets. Further, the system includes a security node (i.e., weighstation) configured to communicate with the sets of routing devices and to only receive the untrusted packets, wherein the untrusted packets are selectively forwarded to the other autonomous system.
