摘要： The invention relates to a method of controlling a display screen, particularly a foil display built up of a number of lines, the display screen comprising at least one light source, a movable element, and selection means for locally bringing the movable element into contact with the light source, in which the selection means comprise row and column electrodes and means for applying control voltage signals to the row and column electrodes. The invention also relates to a display device comprising at least one light source, a movable element, and selection means for locally bringing the movable element into contact with the light source, in which the selection means comprise row and column electrodes and means for applying control voltage signals to the row and column electrodes. Because of a minimum switching time of pixels, not all pixels, i.e. lines can be activated immediately when the display screen is addressed line by line. To avoid this problem, the invention provides a novel addressing method comprising the step of addressing a group of lines or a part of a group of lines while the light source is switched off, followed by a step of illuminating the display screen for a predetermined interval by switching on the light source.

摘要： The display panel 21 comprises a light guide plate 2, a second plate 4 and a movable element 3 between both plates, for locally coupling light out of the light guide plate 2. Voltages applied to electrodes 5, 6 and 25 locally bring the movable element 3 into contact with the light guide plate 2 or the second plate 4. Means for reducing sticking of the movable element 3 to the plates comprise a roughness R1 at the contact surface 14 of the light guide plate 2 facing the movable element 3, a roughness R2 at the contact surface 15 of the movable element 3 facing the light guide plate 2, a roughness R3 at the contact surface 16 of the second plate 4 facing the movable element 3 and a roughness R4 at the contact surface 17 of the movable element 3 facing the second plate 4. The roughnesses R1 and R2 are smaller than at least one of the roughnesses R3 and R4. By virtue thereof, sticking is reduced and the display panel 21 requires relatively little energy to be operated.

摘要： The invention relates to an electron gun (100) for use in a cathode ray tube. The electron gun (100) has an electron source (10), a body (20) with a transmission cavity (25) of which the wall (28) is at least partly coated with an electrical insulator for the emission of secondary electrons, and an electrode (30) for applying a first electric field between the entrance (26) and the exit (27) of the cavity. The electron gun is characterized in that it comprises means for preventing the travelling of positive ions, which are formed by collisions of electrons that have exited from the cavity (25), in reverse direction along the same path as the electrons and colliding with the module (20). Such collisions can damage the cavity exit (27) or the electrical insulator on the wall (28). This is undesirable because the current density of the electron beam (101) exiting from the cavity (25) will deteriorate. This effect is prevented through the application of the deflection means according to the invention.
