    • A system and method for securing communications in a wireless network (10) includes the steps of authenticating (100) members of the wireless network, generating (200) a member private key to be used by the members of the wireless network, and distributing (300) the member private key to each of the members of the wireless network. A member is authenticated based on the ability of the member to be physically proximate to at least one other member of the wireless network at a given instant. The member private key is generated by one of the members, hereinafter referred to as a master member, in response to a changing value stored at the one of the members. The member private key is then securely distributed to each of the members in the WLAN network.
