摘要： A paper conveying/branching device comprising a main conveyer passage, a first branched conveyer passage, a second branched conveyer passage, a conveyer passage change-over guide member, a solenoid and a controller. When the displacing member of the solenoid is displaced to the first operation position from the second operation position, the conveyer passage change-over guide member is rotated from the second position to the first position by its own weight or by a spring force, so that the upstream side in the direction of conveying the paper is lowered with respect to the support shaft. In a state where the conveyer passage change-over guide member is brought to the second position, the controller so operates the solenoid that the displacing member is displaced to the first operation position from the second operation position after the leading end of the paper has passed through, or while the leading end of the paper is passing through, the conveyer passage change-over guide member.

The installation unit includes at least one detection slot, and the toner cartridge includes a detection member. If the proper toner cartridge has been selected, or if certain foreign objects have not fallen into the installation unit, the detection member will slide into the detection slot, and a switch within the detection slot will be activated, thereby allowing installation to be completed. If the wrong toner cartridge has been chosen, or if certain foreign objects have fallen into the installation device, the switch will not be activated, the installation unit will discharge the toner cartridge from the image forming device, and the user will be alerted.

摘要： It is a major object of the present invention to break down and level a heap-up of toner built in the hopper through dropping from the cartridge when feeding toner into the hopper and to prevent toner from leakage from the cartridge due to erroneous operation with a remarkably simple and cheap construction. Namely, the leveling member moves a plurality of number of times in line with engaging and disengaging operation of the cartridge for the hopper and opening and closing operation of the cartridge in the same direction of the shutter, thereby causing a heap-up of toner built in the hopper housing of the hopper to be effectively broken down and leveled. Furthermore, only when the shutter is in its closed status for the cartridge, the cartridge can be removed from the opening of the hopper.

摘要： A toner conveyor disposed in a housing includes an upstream-side toner conveyor and a downstream-side toner conveyor. A toner amount detector is disposed to detect whether the amount of toner in the downstream portion of the housing is greater than a predetermined amount or not, and the upstream-side toner conveyor is not operated when the amount of toner is greater than the predetermined amount in the downstream portion of the housing. A toner replenishment signal is produced when the amount of toner is not greater than the predetermined amount in the downstream portion of the housing despite the downstream-side toner conveying means being operated for more than a predetermined period of time. The toner amount detector can be a plate which rests on top of the toner and pivots up and down as the toner level changes, with a magnet on the plate detected by a suitable detector. Alternatively, the toner amount detector can be a member which moves up and down on top of the toner as the toner level changes, and a photodetector which is activated when the member is at a low level.
