    • PURPOSE: To recover nonferrous metals such as Zn as well as iron by granulating various kinds of iron-contg. dust and sludge discharged from an iron mill together with quick lime powder and using the granules as a coolant for molten metal in steel making operation.
      CONSTITUTION: Dust and sludge discharged from a blast furnace, a converter, a sintering furnace, a rolling mill, etc. contain useful metals such as Fe, Zn, K and Na, so they are mixed with 5W30% quick lime powder and granulated to 5W70mmsize. The granules are used as a coolant when the temp. of molten metal is raised excessively in the operation of the converter, etc. The contained Fe enters molten steel, CaO is utilized to regulate the basicity of slag, and metals such as Zn are vaporized, cooled at the outside of the converter, and recovered with a dust collector.

    • An air conditioner for a vehicle has a heat pump type refrigerant circuit capable of operating at least in a heating mode. The air conditioner comprises a motor fan for supplying air heated by a heat exchanger to the interior of the vehicle during operation of the heating mode, a sensor for detecting the temperature of the air at a position downstream of the heat exchanger and a control unit for controlling the volume of the air supplied by the motor fan to a predetermined minimum volume by controlling the drive of the motor fan when the detected air temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature. Even in a condition where a sufficiently large heat radiation from the heat exchanger cannot be expected, a large volume of cold air that has been insufficiently heated can be prevented from being discharged into the interior of the vehicle. Because the motor fan is driven at a condition of minimum air volume even when the detected temperature is lower than the predetermined temperature, a rapid variation of air volume caused at the time of changing a fan-stopping condition to a fan-driving condition can be avoided and an abnormal increase in the discharge pressure of the heat pump compressor can be prevented.

    • A method and apparatus of tracing VP's (virtual paths) wherein operational information of VP connectors are collected through OAM (operation and maintenance) cells. The VP connectors establish a connection at a VP level within a network in which the cells are transferred in an ATM (asynchronous transfer mode). Each VP connector detects an OAM cell for VP tracing as received from another of the VP connectors, and judges if an area for affixing the operational information in the VP connector itself exists in the detected OAM cell. In the VP connector when the area exists, the detected OAM cell is specified to be the OAM cell for writing the operational information thereinto, and the specified OAM cell is sent out after affixing the operational information thereto. When the area does not exit, the OAM cell received from the other VP connector is sent out after indicating therein that the received OAM cell is not the rearmost cell, the OAM cell for the VP tracing is generated anew, and the generated cell is sent out after indicating therein that the generated OAM cell is the rearmost cell. Also the operational information is affixed to newly generated OAM cell.
