    • A disk stores data groups (GOP) of compressed picture data arranged over sectors. A 1st data indicative of a compression method and a 2nd data indicative of the presence of the GOP are contained in a leading sector. Data D (independent frame) is located at the head of the GOP. The 1st and 2nd data and GOP are aligned in order. The 1st data related to a 2nd GOP is detected after data D of the 1st GOP is reproduced to reproduce data D of the 2nd GOP. Data D arranged by an interval in the GOP are reproduced. In a quick traverse/reverse mode, a 2nd data D next to a 1st data D already reproduced is detected from a position of the GOP corresponding to a value obtained by subtracting/adding a fixed value from/to an integerfold of the interval to reproduce the 2nd data. Data D scattered over sectors of a disk are reproduced. Each sector has a 1st and a 2nd field. The 1st field stores signals not interleaved relative to signals of the 2nd field. A positional data of a leading sector is recorded in the 1st field. The leading sector is located in a 3rd field in which data D is recorded. The positional data is detected to reproduce the data D.

    • A system for protecting an unauthorized use of a recorded content. The system uses a recording medium including a first recording area in which data including a program are recorded and further including a second recording area which is formed at a specific position thereof and in which data including a specific identification code are recorded so as not to be rewritable by a user. The recording medium is coupled through a recording/reproduction device to a control unit for executing the program recorded in the first recording area of the recording medium. The control unit reads out the identification code recorded in the second recording area and stops the execution of the program when the read-out identification code is not coincident with a predetermined ID code.

    • In an apparatus for recording/reproducing data on a disc along a spiral track, a track-turn position of a record/reproduce head is changed in response to a kick back signal determined by a value of the register and read/write error signal just after a sector pulse or an address signal in addition to the conventional access command which changes the track-turn position through calculation from address included in the access command and the present address. The change of the track-turn position by the kick back signal makes access time shorter than that which would be done by the conventional access command. Moreover, in such apparatus, execution of the kick back operation is determined at every N sectors, wherein N=M-[T1/T2], where M is the number of sectors of one track turn; T1 is a time interval necessary for changing the record/reproduce head by one track-turn back; T2 is an interval necessary for scanning one sector by the record/reproduce head; and [T1/T2] shows a least natural number more than T1/T2. This makes timing of start for reading/writing earlier after the kick back operation.
