摘要： An internal combustion engine having a crankshaft, at least one camshaft, a balancer shaft and a timing drive for driving the camshaft and the balancer shaft from the crankshaft. The balancer shaft has a drive member that is interposed in the timing drive and a torsional vibration damper that is interposed between this drive member and the balancer masses on the balancer shaft to avoid transmission of crankshaft vibrations to the balancer shaft without effecting the valve timing. balancer shaft is provided that has at least offset balance masses formed thereon. The balancer shaft is also formed with integral bearings directly on opposite sides of each of the balance masses.

摘要： A variable valve timing mechanisms for an internal combustion engine wherein the timing of two cam shafts associated with the same combustion chamber of the engine may be driven at the same time interval and at the same speed from the engine output shaft and both cam shafts may have their timing adjusted simultaneously by a first variable valve timing mechanism and only one of the cam shafts may have its timing adjusted relative to the other cam shaft by a second variable valve timing mechanism to provide a simpler operational control and lower cost assembly. The variable valve timing cam drive arrangement also reduces the loading on the cam shaft bearings.

摘要： An accessory drive for an overhead cam internal combustion engine wherein the accessory may comprise a high pressure positive pump for a fuel injection system. The engine includes at least one camshaft that is rotatably journaled within a cam chamber formed by a main cylinder head member and a cam cover that is affixed to it. One end of this camshaft is journaled by a bearing cap that has a portion which extends forwardly beyond the cam chamber and which cooperates with the main cylinder head member to define a recess in which a portion of the housing of the accessory is contained and affixed. An accessory drive shaft extends through this mounting portion and is drivingly coupled to the camshaft end. If desired, this front bearing cap may also mount a timing sensor that will project through the cam cover.

摘要： An improved porting and cylinder head arrangement for a multi-valve overhead valve internal combustion engine. The porting arrangement in the cylinder head permits the use of two separate and relatively large intake passages beneath which a fuel injector can be conveniently positioned without obstruction of the shape or configuration of these intake passages. A separate control valve body is fixed to the cylinder head for controlling the flow through the intake passages independently of each other while providing a common intake that can be valved by a single throttle valve.
