    • A printing apparatus includes a printing unit for performing printing by pressing a thermal head onto heat sensitive paper to heat the heat sensitive paper. A battery supplies a voltage to the thermal head, and a battery voltage detecting unit detects the voltage. A printing control unit changes, according to the detected voltage, a power-off time in which power supply from the battery to the thermal head is stopped. The printing control unit calculates the power-off time based on the detected voltage and the resistance of the thermal head and shortens the power-off time as the detected voltage becomes lower thereby shortening the overall printing time without shortening the life of the heating resistance elements of the thermal head.

    • A copying machine main body has a document table on which a document is set, a sheet storing means for storing copy sheets, sheet amount detecting means for detecting if an amount of the copy sheets in the document storing means has reached a predetermined value, feeding means for individually feeding the copy sheets from said copy sheet storing means, and image forming means for forming, on the copy sheet supplied by said copy sheet feeding means, and an image of the document set on the document table. The copying machine main body further includes an automatic document feeder. The automatic document feeder has conveying means for conveying the inserted document to the document table, discharging means for discharging the document from the document table after image formation, document feed inhibiting means for inhibiting supply to the document table of a document following the document after image formation and a detector which detects insertion of the document to generate a copying start signal to the copying machine main body. When there is no more copy sheet in the sheet storing means, a detecting signal from the sheet amount detecting means is transmitted to the microprocessor. The microprocessor supplies a driving signal to the discharging means to discharge the document.

    • The copying machine according to the invention comprises a control section including a microprocessor constituted by a one-chip semiconductor high density integrated element, a random access memory for storing data and a read only memory in which a program for controlling the sequence of the copying machine is stored. The control section includes a timer. When the multiple copy mode is switched over to the interrupt copy mode, information of the suspended multiple copying run state is stored in the RAM, and the interrupt copy run is permitted. When no operation is made for a predetermined period of time after the end of the interrupt copy run, the remaining multiple copy run is permitted by reading out the suspended multiple copy run state stored in the RAM. When no operation is made for a predetermined period of time in the multiple copy mode, the machine set back to the normal mode that is brought about by system initialization after the closure of the power supply. The above control is effected according to the control program mentioned above.
