In the method an area even notification request is received at a location service entity provided in association with the communication system, the area event notification request containing information associated with the identity of the mobile station and an area of interest. Monitoring for an even indicative of a change in the presence status of the mobile station relative to said area of interest is then activated. A notification is signalled in response to detection of such event.

In the method a group comprising at least two serving nodes is formed in the communication network. At least one terminal node is associated with the group. Configuration information is received in a first serving node from a second serving node. A first message is received from a terminal node in the first serving node. In the first serving node is determined a second serving node from the group with at least a first identifier in the first message and the configuration information. The first message is sent from the first serving node to the second serving node. The first message is processed in the second serving node. A second identifier indicating the second serving node is provided to the terminal node. The second serving node is indicated in a second message from the terminal node.

According to one aspect of the invention a location service client accesses a first subscriber database, thereby providing said overlay identity, in order to derive a cellular identity of said mobile terminal. According to another aspect of the invention the location service client accesses a location service server in order thereby providing said overlay identity. The location service server initiates a privacy check using said overlay identity and in response receives a cellular identity. The cellular identity then may be used to request a location service to enhance functionality.
