    • A tension clamp includes, in combination, a main jaw co-extensive with an elongated adjusting arm, a movable jaw co-extensive with a hollow housing through which the adjusting arm is adapted to pass freely, a tension lever pivotally attached to and between two side cheeks of the housing, a secondary level pivotally fastened at one end thereof to the tension lever, the other end of the secondary lever being constrained with respect to the housing by means of a pin in sliding relationship with respect to a pair of registering travelling slots, each formed within a respective one of the side cheeks of the housing, the pin being adapted to engage selectively one of a number of semicircular notches formed within an edge of the adjusting arm remote from the main jaw, and the pair of travelling slots being adapted to guide sliding movement of the pin therealong from a first position wherein the pin is free of engagement with the notches to a second position wherein the pin engages one of the notches. Pivotal movement of the tension lever with respect to the housing initially causes the pin to slide along the pair of travelling slots from its first position to its second position whereby free sliding motion of the adjusting arm within the housing is prevented by the engagement of the pin in the one notch, and then causes the housing to lock securely with respect to the adjusting arm by an over-center action to grip firmly within the jaws any workpiece located therebetween.

    • Devices that are incorporated into footwear to provide magnetic therapy for a patient's foot. Embodiments include a magnetic heel cup insert (2) arranged so as to extend around the heel and toward the instep and up toward the ankle of the user. A shoe upper portion (4) including a magnetic inner lining (6) is arranged and configured to extend over the metatarsal portion of the foot. A magnetic insole (8) extends along the length of the bottom inside portion of an athletic shoe (1) to provide magnetic therapy to the bottom of the user's foot. The magnetic heel cup insert (2), the magnetic inner lining (6), and the magnetic insole (8) preferably envelop the entire patient's foot, so as to provide full magnetic therapy for the patient's foot. Using these devices, magnetic material can be placed in a variety of locations relative to the foot, and the gauss and polarity of the magnetic material can be varied for a desired magnetic therapy.

    • This invention provides a playing card apparatus for holding and dispensing a plurality of playing cards. The apparatus may be a card shoe or an automated shuffler. It has a delivery aperture at a dispensing end for dispensing playing cards individually, the dispensing end having a platform that extends from the delivery aperture for supporting cards being manually removed, the platform being shaped and being of sufficient height to allow a card dealer to insert their thumb or finger below a corner of the card as the card is dispensed. This allows the dealer to grip and pull the card away substantially without flexing the card at all and thereby avoiding risk of disclosing the front face of the card while dispensing the card for dealing it. The cards are held and dispensed in portrait orientation, with a short edge of the card leading. The apparatus enables the storage and delivery of playing cards in a highly efficient continuous and secret manner.

    • In PCB manufacture, the pads and/or through-holes of a bare board are protected prior to mounting of other components by a silver plating process. The silver plate is applied from a plating composition by a replacement process in which silver ions oxidized copper and deposit a layer of silver at the surface. In the aqueous plating composition the silver ions are maintained in solution by the incorporation of a multidentate complexing agent. The compositions may contain a silver tarnish inhibitor and are free of reducing agent capable of reducing silver ions to silver metal, halide ions and substantially free of non-aqueous solvent. Surface mounted components can be soldered direct to the silver coated contact using any commercially available solder. Silver does not deposit onto solder mask, but only onto metal which is less electropositive than silver.
