    • An aquarium tank having a bottom and four side walls is characterized by a transparent divider diagonally dividing the tank into two physically separate compartments, while maintaining the visual impression of a single compartment aquarium. The divider is vertical, rests on the bottom of the aquarium, and is of a height slightly greater than the level of water in the aquarium. The divider is clear and transparent throughout the major portion of the area thereof, and includes perforate areas adjacent its two ends for passage of water between the two compartments. Resilient mounting members at the two vertical ends of the divider provide a snug fit thereof into diagonally opposite corners of the aquarium. As a consequence of the physical separation of the compartments, newly born fry may be confined in one of the compartments safe from larger predatory fish in the other compartment.

    • An undeformed weldable insert is inserted into an undercut recess opening at an inner face of an abrasion resistant ceramic brick and thereafter deformed into the undercut and interlocked with the brick. The insert is then welded to a substrate either by inserting a welding rod through a small guide hole into the recess from the abrasion resisting outer surface of the brick and then into guided welding contact with the substrate through a hole in the insert, or by inserting the welding rod through a hole in the substrate opposite the insert. Alternatively the inner face of the brick is overlaid with a fluid hardenable plastic that fills and interlocks with the undercut recess to provide means for bolting or cementing the brick to a substrate to be protected.

    • A pipe elbow having a composite ceramic wear liner which is particularly adapted to resist abrasive wear from particulate material conveyed through the pipe elbow. The composite ceramic wear liner is comprised of four series of polyhedron shaped ceramic wear blocks disposed at angularly spaced locations around the circumference of the elbow flow passageway. A mixture of wear resistant particles and binder surrounds the wear bricks and provides an abrasion resistant wear surface along those portions of the pipe elbow which are less subject to abrasive wear. The pipe elbow is provided with a removable cover plate in order to access and replace the series of wear bricks located along the outside center line of the pipe elbow most subject to wear.

    • A tell-tale wear monitor for pipes having wear resistant inner linings. A plurality of wear monitors is provided spaced apart along the length of a pipe section or spool and angularly spaced apart about the pipe circumference. Each of the wear monitors includes a plug member attached to the outer pipe casing and covering a tell-tale hole which extends through the pipe casing. The plug members are made of a material which, relative to the inner lining material, is readily worn away by abrasive contact with the material conveyed within the pipe. When the plug member is worn through, fluid flow is permitted through the tell-tale hole. The wear monitor provides a means for determining when maintenance of the pipe section should be scheduled and allows for extended useful life of the pipe section.
