The system comprises a nonvolatile memory having a boot sector and an application sector and a volatile memory in processing communication to update the nonvolatile memory. The monitoring method which includes: providing an airflow sensor positioned within an electronic system to be at least partially air-cooled, the airflow sensor including at least one temperature sensor and a heater associated with one temperature sensor of the at least one temperature sensor; calibrating, with the airflow sensor positioned within the electronic system, a duty cycle for use in powering the heater associated with the one temperature sensor; and providing a controller configured to use the calibrated duty cycle in powering the heater of the temperature sensor during airflow monitoring of the electronic system, and to obtain a hot temperature (Thot) reading from the one temperature sensor having the associated heater, and to determine, based at least in part on the hot temperature (Thot) reading, whether to issue an airflow warning.

The present invention also provides an optical phase retardation film comprising a halogen-containing polymer wherein: (a) the film has refractive indices n.sub.x, n.sub.y, and n.sub.z associated with its axes x, y, and z: (b) the x and y axes are in the plane of the film and perpendicular to each other; (c) the z axis is perpendicular to the plane of the film; and (d) n.sub.x .gtoreq.n.sub.y >n.sub.z. The optical phase retardation film is useful in a liquid crystal display device. The present invention also provides a liquid crystal display device comprising: (a) a first polarizer; (b) liquid crystal cell having transparent electrodes; (c) an optical phase retardation film comprising a polymer comprising at least about 40 percent by weight chlorotrifluoroethylene; and (d) a second polarizer wherein the liquid crystal cell and optical phase retardation film are located between the first and second polarizers.
