摘要： A cap sheet metal (and pivot sheet metal) is configured to be able to move linearly with a cap arm (and an arm stay) via engagement between an engagement hole and a fitting shaft. Furthermore, the cap sheet metal (and the pivot sheet metal) can move pivotally with respect to the cap arm (and the arm stay) using the fitting shaft, which engages with the engagement hole, as a pivotal shaft. Thus, even if, for example, the direction of biasing toward the applying roller deviates or a positional relationship with the applying roller deviates slightly, the liquid holding member moves and pivots in the bias direction depending on the deviation. As a result, the contacting pressure of a contacting portion on the applying roller can be made uniform.

摘要： An ink jet recording apparatus is provided with a recording function to record images on a sheet material by installing an ink jet recording head that discharges ink from the ink discharge ports, and also, with an image reading function to read images from a sheet material by installing an image reading head exchangeably. This apparatus includes the discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head having the ink discharge ports formed on it, the image reading surface of the image reading head to read images to this head from the image reading surface, and a member that abuts upon the ink discharge port surface arranged to be in contact with the ink discharge port surface of the ink jet recording head. This member is arranged so as not to be in contact with the image reading surface of the image reading head. Thus the image reading surface of the image reading head is prevented from being stained by ink. Also, this apparatus can be made smaller with a simple structure to provide both reading and recording functions.

In both-side recording, wherein the fed recording sheet is conveyed to the recording portion and after the recording is executed on a face side surface, the recording sheet is conveyed to a sheet reversing portion where both sides are reversed, and is sent to the recording portion again where the rear side surface is recorded, a clearance between the recording head and the recording sheet can be changed when recording on the face side surface and when recording on the rear side surface. A first clearance suitable for the recording sheet having a standard thickness and a material, and a second clearance longer than the first clearance, can be arbitrarily selected. When there is a possibility that the recording head comes into contact with the recording sheet due to influences from the warp and the like, the second clearance is selected, and when there is few possibility of contact, a first clearance is selected.
