    • A client computer obtains an execution file name of an application to be started from the constitution file information thereof and notifies the application distribution request information to a server computer and upon receipt of it, the server computer obtains the execution file name of the application, distributes a file constituting the application to the client computer when the client computer is registered in the license information, decides whether the distribution of the application succeeds or not from the notification result, and starts the application by the client computer. By doing this, generation and use of an application program are realized in the same development environment and even if an application in the client computer is updated at the start of the application, an application requested to the client computer from the server computer can be set up automatically and remotely.

    • With employment of a computer, table format data is arranged to produce a desirable form in accordance with the following sequential operation. The designated data table is displayed on a relational table display window, and a base record is set with respect to the relational table on this window. An arranging display window is produced, and an allocation and an initialization of a memory region are performed. A basic portion of the form is created by arranging the data from the relational data to the arranging display window. Furthermore, repeating data among the arranged data is designated, and then a repeating parameter for designating the sort of repeating process and also the display position during the repeating representation are inputted, and thereafter the repeating process is applied to the designated data based upon these parameter and display position, whereby a form is created. Furthermore, based upon the form arranging data table, the relational format table data containing such a specific column data as a total and an average is displayed on a display screen. A designation is made of the column whose layout is changed on the screen, the table data corresponding to the designated column is discriminated, and then the data whose layout should be updated is stored into the specific data arranging data table so as to be separately managed.

    • A technique determines which configuration change(s) caused an application invocation failure of a computer application without the need for a knowledge database. To determine which configuration change is the most likely cause, the cause analysis program (121) checks other computers (102) that have experienced the same configuration changes. The cause analysis program checks and counts the application invocation results before and after each configuration change is done. If the same configuration changes are found in the other computers, the program checks whether each configuration change caused or cured the same problem in that computer. The program counts the similar cases for all of the computers. Subsequently, the program calculates the ratio of those instances involving a change from success to failure and the ratio of those instances involving a change from failure to success out of all instances for each configuration change.

    • A root cause analysis engine uses event durations and gradual deletion of events to improve analysis accuracy and reduce the number of required calculations. Matching ratios of relevant rules are recalculated every time notification of an event is received. The calculation results are held in a rule memory in the analysis engine. Each event has a valid duration, and when the duration has expired, that event is deleted from the rule memory. Events held in the rule memory can be deleted without affecting other events held in the rule memory. The analysis engine can then re-calculate the matching ratio of each rule by only performing the re-calculation with respect to affected rules related to the deleted event. The calculation cost can be reduced because analysis engine processes events incrementally or decrementally. Analysis engine can determine the most possible conclusion even if one or more condition elements were not true.

In newly acquiring knowledge, the utilizing portion utilizes the metaknowledge stored in said storage portion. A knowledge input prompting function that works to utilize the metaknowledge makes reference to metaknowledge in the metaknowledge memory function, looks for knowledge that is lacking, and prompts the input thereof. An input knowledge checking function which also utilizes the metaknowledge makes reference to metaknowledge to look for constraint related to the input knowledge, and evaluates whether it is satisfied or not. These utilization functions make it possible to keep the justification and consistency of knowledge acquired.
