    • An electric power tool of the present invention includes: a lighting unit; a motor that drives a tool element; a setting switch that is turned ON/OFF to change an operation mode setting and a lighting mode setting; a setting switching unit that changes the operation mode setting and the lighting mode setting corresponding to a manner of operation provided to the setting switch; a motor control unit that controls the motor according to a control method for one of the operation modes currently set by the setting switching unit; and a lighting control unit that controls the lighting unit corresponding to one of the lighting modes currently set by the setting switching unit. When the setting switch is turned on, the setting switching unit changes one of the operation mode setting and the lighting mode setting corresponding to a duration time of an ON state of the setting switch.

    • A motor controller comprises a processor selectively outputting an on-signal to either one of an upper arm switching element and a lower arm switching element based upon a detected position by the position sensor, gate drivers inputting a driving voltage to the gates of the switching elements by shifting a level of the on-signal from the processor to the upper arm switching element and a bootstrap capacitor configured to be charged while the upper arm switching element is turned off and to behave as a voltage supply for the gate driver while the upper arm switching element is turned on. The processor is configured to reduce a set duty ratio when the set duty ratio is equal to or larger than a predetermined value (e.g. 80 percents) and a rotational position of the motor does not change for a first predetermined time. This motor controller can prevent the switching element from a burnout even if the motor is locked.

    • A power tool includes a motor, a rotating speed adjusting switch, a regulating member, and a control unit. The regulating member regulates an upper limit position when the switch is displaced by manipulation by a user into an upper limit of any one of stages by the manipulation by the user. The control unit controls an amount of a current flowing to the motor by a duty ratio based on a manipulation amount of the switch, thereby increasing the rotating speed of the motor in accordance with an increase of the manipulation amount. A predetermined set number of duty ratios are set for each of the stages. A proportion of the predetermined set number of duty ratios to a manipulable amount of the switch is higher in a first stage having the lowest upper limit position than in the stages other than the first stage.

    • An electric power tool includes: a motor; an operation unit; a control parameter setting unit; and a control unit. The control parameter setting unit sets, as a control parameter of the motor, an optimum maximum rotational speed of the motor corresponding to a predetermined set torque or a control amount corresponding to the optimum maximum rotational speed. The control unit is configured to drive the motor in response to an operation amount of the operation unit and to control a rotational speed of the motor at or smaller than the optimum maximum rotational speed based upon the control parameter. The control parameter setting unit determines, as the optimum maximum rotational speed, a rotational speed of the motor that rotates with a rotational energy required to rotate the output shaft at the set torque and sets the optimum maximum rotational speed as the control parameter.
