    • A battery pack (10) used as the power source of a portable information device (11) is configured to measure the consumption of battery power and transmit data indicating the measured consumption of battery power together with a battery pack ID code and a charging server IP address to the information device (11). The information processing apparatus (11), when connected to the internet, transmits the data on the consumption of battery power and the battery pack ID code given from the battery pack (10) to a charging server (12). The charging server (12) refers to the information given from a contract matter input device (16) and calculates the charge for the consumption of battery power on the basis of the data on the consumption of battery power and the battery pack ID code. The charged for consumption of battery power calculated by the charging server (12) is transmitted together with data including an account number of the account for payment of the charge to an account managing server (13) of a bank, for example, to enable procedures of automatic payment of the charge from the account.

    • In a recording and/or reproducing apparatus having a rotated record carrier, for example, in the form of a disc, adapted to have video or other signals optically recorded in successive turns of a spiral track on a surface of the record disc, a recording and/or reproducing transducer or head assembly with an optical system including a movable lens for focusing a light beam at the disc surface and/or a movable mirror for deflecting the light beam so as to cause the latter to scan the track, and a servo system for detecting deviations from the proper focused and/or scanned conditions, for example, due to fluctuations of the rotated record disc in directions normal to, or in the plane of rotation thereof, and for correspondingly displacing the lens and/or mirror, respectively, so as to maintain the proper focused and scanned conditions; such servo system is provided with a gain-frequency characteristic having peaks at a fundamental frequency corresponding to the rotational speed of the record disc and at least at one harmonic of such fundamental frequency so as to improve the accuracy with which the servo system responds to fluctuations of the record disc for maintaining the proper focused and/or scanned condition.

    • In a cathode ray tube in which an electron gun directs one or more electron beams against a phosphor screen through an electron focusing lens, preferably of the unipotential type, constituted by a plurality of tubular electrodes arranged coaxially in succession along the tube axis with a relatively low potential being applied to one of the electrodes and a relatively high potential being applied to the other electrodes, and in which each electron beam is deflected, after passing through the focusing lens, so as to scan the screen in line-scanning and vertical directions; distortion of the landing spot of each beam on the screen, particularly when deflected toward the peripheral portions of the screen, is removed or compensated by forming the tubular electrode which is maintained at the relatively low potential of two axially divided tubular electrode portions having respective end plates or walls extending across their adjacent ends and formed with aligned apertures for the passage through the latter of each beam, with a first pair of diametrically opposed flanges projecting from the periphery of one of the apertures in the axial direction toward the other aperture, and a second pair of diametrically opposed flanges projecting from the periphery of such other aperture in the axial direction toward said one aperture and being orthogonally disposed in relation to said first pair of flanges so as to be interfitted between the latter, so that the application across the two electrode portions of a correction voltage which varies with the angle of deflection of each said beam from the tube axis is effective to provide a varying electric field for obtaining a uniform shape of the landing spot of each beam on all portions of the screen.
