    • An illumination device is a device which irradiates light to a reflection-type display panel in which a liquid crystal is sandwiched between a pair of substrates. The illumination device includes a light emitting portion formed such that an organic EL layer is sandwiched between the pair of substrates. A first electrode which is in contact with the organic EL layer includes a metal portion and a transparent portion through which light can transmit. Light does not transmit through the metal portion provided at the viewing side. Further, the illumination device includes a microlens array arranged so as to cover the light emitting portion at the viewing side of the light emitting portion.

    • Disclosed herein is a light-emitting device including: a substrate; a plurality of light-emitting elements which are arranged on the substrate, each having two electrodes with a light-emitting layer interposed therebetween; an insulating film which is formed on the substrate and insulates the two electrodes from each other; a peripheral layer which is formed on the substrate and is located outside the insulating film; and a sealing layer which is formed on the substrate and covers the plurality of light-emitting elements and the insulating film, wherein the sealing layer is formed of a single-layer or a plural-layer thin film, and wherein, in the single-layer or the plural-layer thin film, an end of a thin film having the largest thickness is interposed between the insulating film and the peripheral layer.

    • A light-emitting device includes a drive transistor that controls a current to be supplied to a light-emitting element from a power supply line, an electrical continuity portion that electrically connects the drive transistor with the light-emitting element, an initializing transistor that is turned ON to diode-connect the drive transistor, and a connecting portion that electrically connects the drive transistor with the initializing transistor. The power supply line includes a first portion extending in a predetermined direction. The electrical continuity portion and the connecting portion are formed from the same layer as that of the power supply line and are located on one side along the width of the first portion across the drive transistor.
