    • A side wall portion of a housing is provided with an arm-protective extending portion below a pawl and a mechanical arm. The arm-protective extending portion extends inwardly at a substantially right angle. Further, a side wall portion of the housing is provided with a shaft-protective extending portion which extends inwardly from the lower edge portion of a horizontally long opening portion. The horizontally long opening portion is formed so as to face a coupling shaft over its full length. Below this shaft-protective extending portion, there is formed a bolt insertion hole through which a bolt is inserted at the time of mounting the housing to a fastening piece of a vehicle.

    • In response to movement of a vehicle sensor body, a vehicle sensor lever (205A) moves. Thereby, a front end portion of the vehicle sensor lever is pressed to move a pilot arm (203). The pilot arm is movably supported by a clutch (202) capable of moving co-axially with a take-up drum. A locking gear (206) and the take-up drum are fixed integrally and co-axially so as to get engaged with the moved pilot arm for rotating the clutch. The thus rotated clutch leads the pawl (43) for preventing rotation of the take-up drum. While the take-up drum is in a locked state, a movement restricting portion (202G) regulates movement of the vehicle sensor lever.

    • When a pinion gear body (33) rotates co-axially with rotational axis of the take-up drum (6), a first rotation body (76) which is fixed to the pinion gear body co-axially rotates relatively to a second rotation body (77) which is mounted to the pinion gear body co-axially, as well, and does not rotate during initial rotation of the pinion gear body. Thereby, an engagement member (29) which is rotatably supported by the first rotation body and fitted to the first and second rotation bodies protrudes radially and outwardly. The engagement member that has thus projected gets engaged with the take-up drum. In this stage, the engagement member is pressed and moved by a guiding portion of the second rotation body in response to the relative rotation so as to be guided in an outward radial direction.

    • A torsion bar is mounted inside a take-up drum with its one end fixed thereto for disabling its relative rotation with respect to the take-up drum. A slit is formed in parallel to rotational axis of the take-up drum and allows one end of the webbing to pass through. At one end of the webbing, there is provided a slip-off prevention member. Length consisting of the slip-off prevention member's diameter and thickness of the webbing surrounding the slip-off prevention member is longer than distance between outer-diameter-side surface of the slit at the take-up drum and outer diameter surface of the torsion bar inside the take-up drum so as to prevent escape of the slip-off prevention member therefrom. The slip-off prevention member's load to depress the take-up drum in fully-pulled-out state of webbing is received by both the torsion bar and the take-up drum.
