    • An efficient method and system is provided for promptly providing recommended information on a product or service giving consideration to a site user trend. It comprises a recommended information providing server for managing information on users and user terminals used by users to access the recommended information providing server. The recommended information providing server has an information management section for managing transmission network information for specifying a channel for transmitting information among the plurality of user terminals. The transmission network information includes settings of users similar in trends to a target user as virtual users. Upon receiving event information (e.g., purchase of product A) from a user terminal of a user set as a virtual user, the recommended information providing server references the transmission network information, specifies a destination (target user) of the recommended information, and sends the recommended information to a user terminal of the destination via a user agent section.

    • A method and associated system for estimating a position of an object. A radio wave is received from each radio frequency identification (RFID) tag of N RFID tags affixed to the object at different positions at the object (N≧2). A position of each RFID tag is detected from the received radio waves. A position of each RFID tag is estimated from analysis of the detected positions. The estimating includes utilizing, for n=1, 2, . . . , N, a specified probability function P(′pn|pn) denoting a probability that the estimated position of RFID tag n is pn if the detected position of RFID tag n is pn, wherein ′pn and pn are vectors from an origin of a coordinate system to the detected position and the estimated position, respectively, of the RFID tag n. The position of the object is ascertained from analysis of the estimated positions.

    • A method, and associated system, for allocating memory to a first pipeline that includes a sequence of filters. Each filter is configured to execute a process specific to each filter, receive input data, and generate output data. The output data from each filter, except the last filter in the sequence, serves as the input data to the next filter in the sequence. An optimum memory capacity is allocated to the first pipeline if possible. Otherwise, a guaranteed memory bandwidth is allocated to the first pipeline if possible.     • An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for determining the consistency of a database including indirect reference to data elements. There is provided an apparatus for determining consistency of a database. This database includes, in association with each data element, an indirect list element including a storage address of the associated or corresponding data element so that other data elements can reference that data element. This apparatus reads, from each data element, identification information of an indirect list element corresponding to that data element and generates a hash value. This apparatus further reads, from each data element, identification information of an indirect list element corresponding to a data element referenced by that data element and generates a hash value. On condition that these hash values are equivalent to each other, the apparatus determines that the database is consistent.
