    • An image processing circuit includes: a storage unit; a first multiplication unit that multiplies a pixel value stored in the storage unit, by a pixel value included in input image data, the input image data expressing the pixel values; a subtraction value output unit that outputs a pixel value obtained by subtracting a pixel value at each of the positions in the input image data, from a maximum pixel value in the input image data; a second multiplication unit that multiplies a pixel value included in the input image data or a pixel value included in background image data, by the pixel value output by the subtraction value output unit; and an adder unit that adds up a multiplication result of the first and second multiplication units and outputs addition results as output image data.

    • There is disclosed a character rendering device capable of rendering characters at a higher speed. The character rendering device includes an internal storage unit including plural storage areas; a first bus connected through an external bus to an external storage unit storing character shape data sets, each expressing a shape of a character; a second bus connected to the internal storage unit; a controller that specifies one of the plural storage areas; a first rendering unit connected to the first and second buses, that renders a character shape of a character based on one of the character shape data sets supplied through the external bus and the first bus, and writes through the second bus the rendered character shape into one of the storage areas specified by the controller; a second rendering unit connected to the second bus, reads through the second bus, each time when writing of a character shape into one of the plural storage areas is completed by the first rendering unit, the character shape from one of the plural storage areas, and renders a character based on the read character shape; and a transfer unit that transfers the character rendered by the second rendering unit.

The command supplying unit supplies the drawing command containing no posture information to the contour drawing unit when the contour of the glyph is drawn with the posture specified by the posture information stored in the storage unit, and supplies the drawing command containing the posture information to the contour drawing unit, when the contour of the glyph is not drawn with the posture specified by the posture information stored in the storage unit. The contour drawing unit writes the image data indicating the contour with the posture specified by the posture information when the drawing command containing the posture information is supplied from the command supplying unit, and writes the image data indicating the contour with the posture specified by the posture information stored in the storage unit when the drawing command containing no posture information is supplied from the command supplying unit.

    • An image processing circuit includes: a memory that stores the location and pixel values that compose graphical images; a calculation unit that calculates the difference between a target location to which the graphical images is aligned in binary image data and an initial location designated in the graphical images; an output unit that outputs pixel values at locations distanced from the locations of the pixel values by an amount equivalent to the calculated difference; a first multiplier that multiplies the output pixel value with the pixel value included in the binary image data; an inverter that inverts the pixel value in the binary image data; a second multiplier that multiplies the pixel values in the binary image data or the pixel values included in background image data with the inverted pixel values; and an adder that adds the result of the multiplications performed by the first and second multipliers.
