    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide an opening/closing device of a folding door, which cushions a shock during the closing of the folding door by incorporating a damper for alleviating the rapid closing motion of the folding door by a spring of a center hinge, almost at the terminal stage of the closing motion of the folding door.
      SOLUTION: In a structure of the folding door 1, right and left door bodies are foldably connected together via the center hinge 2, and urged to a closing position by means of a spring which is incorporated into the center hinge. The folding door 1 is equipped with the damper 10 for alleviating the rapid closing motion of the door bodies. The damper comprises a cylinder 11, a piston 12, a piston rod 13, a fluid for generating a resistance force against the movement of the piston rod in the cylinder 11, and a spring 15 for constantly urging the piston rod 13 in a protruding attitude. A spring force is set smaller than a door-body closing force of the spring which is incorporated into the center hinge.

The adsorber 1 is formed of a main body 2 and magnets 3 mounted in the main body 2 in a manner protrudable from an upper surface of the main body 2 and adsorbed to the steel plate 4 which is formed into a slender shape and mounted on the surface over a predetermined length from a predetermined location along a traveling direction of the sliding door A. The steel plate 4 is arranged at a location at which the sliding door A is closed, and therefore when the sliding door A is closed, the magnets 3 are slid while being adsorbed to the steel plate 4, whereby the effective brakes are applied to the sliding door. Further, when the sliding door A is stopped at the closure location, the brake device functions as the temporary lock for holding the door closing position by virtue of adsorbing function between the magnets 3 and the steel plate 4.
