    • A modulator-demodulator (modem) used in radio interface unit (RIU) is modeled as master and slave, respectively, so as to allow a rapid handling of service, a stabilized system, and an efficient utilization of wireless systems. The RIU in wireless local loop network system, in which the RIU has a subscriber interface module for interface with subscriber terminal and data, a high frequency processing module for transmitting/receiving radio data to/from a radio port via an antenna, and a modem for converting and interfacing data between the subscriber interface module and the high frequency module, includes: a modem unit having a master modem which performs an automatic frequency control function for a direct control of a high frequency, power control function, and automatic gain control function, and is provided with a pilot channel, power control channel, and signaling channel only when the master modem operates as a primary one, and a plurality of slave modems which have pilot, power control and signaling channels and receive power control and signaling channels only when the slave modems operate as a primary one, and which receive only the power control and signaling channels when they operate as a secondary one; and a control module for controlling transmitting/receiving state of the modem unit and state of the subscriber interface module.

    • A screen output control device of a mobile communication terminal includes a first screen output unit to output a first portion of a web page on a first screen, and a second screen output unit to output a second portion of the web page on a second screen. The first portion is a scaled down version of the web page, and the second portion is part of the first portion. The second portion may be enlarged relative to the first portion to be displayed in a scale that is more visible by a user. A user may navigate the web page through a user input to the first screen or the second screen. Another screen output control device divides a web page into areas, each of which is synchronized with inputs of an operation unit so that an area can be selected for display by entering the corresponding input.

    • A character signal display for a camcorder includes a character signal generator for providing needed character data responsive to horizontal and vertical sync signals separated from a selected video signal. According to one aspect of the invention, the vertical sync signal is extracted from the selected video signal by a microcomputer while the horizontal sync signal is extracted from the selected video signal using a Hsync signal oscillator associated with an electronic viewfinder. When an external video signal is input, selection between the external video signal and the camera video signal is arbitrary; when the external video signal is not applied, the camera video signal is preferentially selected. According to another aspect of the invention, circuitry associated with the electronic viewfinder can generate both the horizontal and vertical sync signals needed by the character generator. Therefore, the conventional synchronous signal generator and synchronous signal separator can be omitted from the camcorder. As a result, the manufacturing cost can be curtailed while still providing the desired synchronous signals.
