[Class 4] [See also Groups XVIII and XXX] An aerial poster, towed by aircraft and comprising letters in skeleton or silhouette form mounted on sectional longitudinal stringers bridging front and rear struts, is characterized by there being at least one section for each letter, the stringers being permanently secured to the letters and adjacent sections being detachably connected to permit ready interchange of the letters. As shown in Fig. 1, the poster comprises fabric letters sewn on tapes 16 extending between struts 3, 24, the tapes of each letter having spring clips 17 for detachable engagement with eyes 18 on the tapes of the preceding letter. The poster is maintained vertical when in flight by a billet of lead in the lower portion of the strut 3, and is held rigid by struts secured in hems on the letters. The tow rope is secured to the aircraft by an eye 25, Fig. 5, engaged by a bolt 26 mounted on a bracket 27 on the tail skid support 28 of the aircraft, the bolt being lifted through a cable 29 when it is desired to release the rope. A shock cushioning device 9 is provided in the tow rope comprising a spring 30, Fig. 6, connecting two sections of the rope and housed in a sheath 31 provided with end caps 32.

    • Various technologies and techniques are disclosed that improve the creation of diagrams. The user can select an option to create a diagram based on existing inventory, such as a network inventory. Details about the inventory are retrieved from one or more databases and/or files. The diagram is laid out in a snaking S tree to increase the number of attach points for a given diagram size. Each node on the diagram can include a graphic that represents a type, such as a machine type, and a label that summarizes the most important properties. Different graphics are used to represent different types of inventory, such as network equipment. To reduce clutter on the diagram, some inventory is grouped together on a single node to represent multiple pieces of the same type of inventory. The diagram can be submitted to other software programs for further analysis of the data contained therein.

    • Described is a method and system providing a dynamic, live (active) surface and/or model elements to complement and enhance what is being modeled or visualized, enabling the addition of new features and functionality to visualization and modeling tools. A dynamic surface is accomplished by extending traditional HTML, rendering APIs and/or components to enable visualization and modeling functionality. The surface background and model elements may comprise HTML elements, and the surface can include a Web site. The model elements are HTML elements layered dynamically atop the surface, as the user interacts with them, and completed designs may be saved in a non-proprietary format, (e.g., HTML). The live surface bases its services on HTML rendering engine services, and further provides a visualization and modeling engine that wraps and extends the rendering engine through multiple interfaces. Interfaces can enumerate modeling elements and their relationships, add, delete or change connections between model elements and states, and initialize the surface, including loading an existing diagram such as saved as an HTML document.
