摘要： A method and apparatus for profiling the bed of a furnace involves the production of a digital image of the bed and background. The digital image is processed to determine transitions in the image which correspond to transitions between the bed and background and thereby to the boundary of the bed. Bed characteristics, such as the bed profile, the bed height, the slope of the bed and the volume of the bed are determined from the processed image. The image may be displayed for use in controlling the performance of a furnace. In addition, the determined bed characteristics may be compared with reference bed characteristics, with the differences being displayed, used in controlling the operation of the furnace, or in activating an indicator, such as an alarm, in the event the reference and determined bed characteristics differ by a threshold amount.

摘要： A wheel with an asymmetrical cross-section for use with a roller skate. The wheel also has a tread portion that can be easily and inexpensively replaced. An apparatus for multi-line roller skates that has two or three lines of wheels. The wheels in the center line have a coefficient of friction that is lower than the coefficients of friction of either of the outer lines of wheels. The wheels in the outer lines have asymmetrical cross-sections, while the wheels in the center line have symmetrical cross-sections. A multi-line roller skate that employs these technologies is disclosed. Also disclosed is a method for improving roller skate performance employing the aforementioned technologies.

摘要： A desktop printing system for use with microprocessor-based computers includes the modular combination of a color printer and a monochrome text printer. Preferably, the color printer is of the type which prints color graphics incrementally and the text printer is of the type which prints monochrome text continuously. In operation, printing information is segregated into color and text components, and the color printer is controlled to print only color components while the text printer is controlled to print only monochrome text components.
